The flowers usually start to fade a couple of hours before the petals start showing visible curling. They prefer full sun throughout the day and mesic soils. In cultivation, most are treated as perennial plants in tropical areas and as annual plants in colder climates, but some species tolerate winter cold. Morning glories are a close relative of Moon flowers which open at night to be pollinated by moths.

Growing Morning Glory Indoors?

I'd like to grow some morning glory indoors but have heard they can become quite uncontrolable as they usually grow up fences etc. Well I have some seeds and was thinking of growing them out of a few pots in my bathroom and letting them go wild. Would this work?

They don't seem to mind pots. But they do like *lots* of sun. If your bathroom is very bright, it might work.

me and a friend want to take burpee heavenly blue morning glory seeds to trip but are wondering if they coat the seeds with a poison. anyone know?

I'm not sure if they do or not but i can tell you that what i did was just put my seeds in a bowl of water and a little soap and washed them. Then I crushed the seeds and put that into teabags. I then soaked that in water for a few hours and then took that liquid and put it into a water bottle. I gonna trip on it this weekend but my friend who's done it before told me to do it that way so good luck to you.

Morning glory muffins?

I want to make these 'morning glory' muffins i found on Recipezaar but they call for flaked coconut which I don't have. What will be the taste difference If i leave it out? This is the recipe...it looks like there are so many other flavors that they will stil be good without coconut...what do u think?








1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour


3/4 cup sugar


1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda


1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon


1/3 teaspoon salt


2/3 cup oil


2 eggs


1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract


1 1/3 cups grated peeled apples (about 1 large apple)

they will be fine without the coconut. in all actuality, the morning glory muffins ar pretty much a glorified carrot cake recipe, the coconut and the apples are for a bit of added fiber.

Morning glory flowers...?

My morning glory plants are not blooming. I worry that they do not get enough sun, but the plants themselves are growing large with many large leaves... and no flowers. What am I doing wrong?

i worried about the same thing for 2 years - i didnt get flowers til august (i live in northeast). i was the told that many strains of morning glories are late summer bloomers. they were very dense with leaves and grew vigorously and big - but no flowers. by end of summer, there were many hundreds. and they bloomed every day til frost, sun or clouds.

Reply:give them a little more time.. if they are still growing and the leaves look healthy. you arent doing anything wrong. just give them some time and you should have blooms soon.. mine take a while to get blossoms also! good luck !
Reply:You probably have a large amount of nitrogen (needed for vigorous leaf/foliage growth) and are deficient in phosphorus (needed for flowering/fruiting). Bone meal is a natural source for phosphorus.

Morning Glory Seeds.?

Will it hurt a dog to eat Morning Glory seeds? I have these growing up the back fence, and noticed the neighbors dog eating the seeds. Told the neighbor, but they didn't seem to care.
