Morning glory seed coating?

I want to remove the chemical coating on some Morning Glory seeds I bought. It says on the back of the packet "These seed have a very hard coat". It doesnt say anything else on the back about it. Is this the seed coating itself, or a chemical coating? And if it's chemical, is it removable?

Yes, dont eat them lol. I tried that once when I was a teen and it was gross and not even a head change.

Reply:"Hard coat" refers to the seed coat, which is a biological term refering to the "shell," as it were, of the seed. That's not the same as the chemical that is put on the seeds to make them more likely to survive being planted.





By the way, morning glory seeds will not get you high. They might make you feel sick, though.
Reply:Not a chemical coating. You just need to soak the seeds in water overnight before planting or knick the coating with a knife. Both methods will help the flowers germinate faster.
Reply:I'm not sure why you want to remove the coating or shell. Morning Glory seeds are poisonous. The coating is natural for the seed. I wouldn't mess with them other than to drop them in the dirt to plant them. If you plan on using them as a psychedelic drug it is dangerous to your health.
