I planted some morning glory seeds in small peat pots. (3 to a pot) Finally planted them yesterday?

in the ground. I did not thin them out at all..There are 3 plants.....every 9 inches. I wanted them to be really full, OR.....will they just choke each other out????????

They should do just fine. In fact I planted some Morning glorys along my fence on year and just planted them in the ground every 1/2". They never choked each other out and the fence was just full of flowers. Just keep them well watered, wspecially when they get bigger.
Reply:They should be fine. I grew morning glories for years and never had a problem with them choking themselves out. Good luck and enjoy!
Reply:bloody hell sounds like you are trying for a rain forest.
Reply:If you have them thinned every 9 inches, that should be fine. Mine seed themselves, and they have no laws on how far to stay from each other, some come up an inch apart, some farther... it doesn't seem to bother them, esp since they grow up any way, and you can train them in different directions. I have seen them ravel around each other so they look like a little bush when they didn't have anything to climb, and they just kept on growing and blooming... like weeds. You don't have to worry about them choking each other out.... but you do have to worry about them choking out any other plants around them.
Reply:they might choke eachother out..but..wait til they start comming up and you can weed them out then..if their to clumped together just pull out a few or however many ya think... their a great outdoors vineing plant and so pretty too.. they pretty much do their own thing.... thats all i can suggest...hugsss an good morning!!
Reply:Three to a pot is a bit crowded, but now that you have them in the ground, don't let it bother you too much, the growth will be dense, but in the early stages of growth if you feel they are too close, snip of one/per pot that does not appear as robust as the others , rather than disturb the root ball by uprooting, next season they will not be governed by space or distance, but will carry on just fine I hope they will give you a glorious display.
Reply:Morning glories can choke each other out, or they can just spread like large monsters. Here are photos of an outside structure I planted "a few" morning glory seeds around!

I hope the link works! I just started using Photobucket.
Reply:You should have saved yourself a lot work by throwing them away. You'll be pulling this invasive plant out of everything else your trying to grow. This plant should be classified a weed, in my opinion.
Reply:3" apart is the recommended seed spacing for Morning Glories.

cover with 1/2 inch of fine soil, well pressed down.
